چکیده

This article proposes a new model for the analysis of texts, particularly adapted to the study of verbalizations. The model has been built to characterize the invariance between texts written by the same author. It includes two levels :-at the enunciative level, lexical and syntactical regularities in the expressions of an identical intention are represented by « enunciative patterns » ;-at the cognitive level, the global organization of discourses is taken into account and common points between various verbalizations of a same task are captured in « cognitive patterns ». « Cognitive automata » are defined to sum-up all information collected. They provide a formal approach of what language tells us about the one that tells it.

Robustness of Decision-Making Competence: Evidence from Two Measures and an 11-Year Longitudinal Study

Decision-making competence (DMC) is the ability to follow normative principles when making decisions. In a longitudinal analysis, we examine the robustness of DMC over time, as measured by two batteries of paper-and-pencil tasks. Participants completed the youth version (Y-DMC) at age 19 and/or the adult version (A-DMC) 11 years later at age 30, as part of a larger longitudinal study. Both meas...

From Universal Laws of Cognition to Specific Cognitive Models

The remarkable successes of the physical sciences have been built on highly general quantitative laws, which serve as the basis for understanding an enormous variety of specific physical systems. How far is it possible to construct universal principles in the cognitive sciences, in terms of which specific aspects of perception, memory, or decision making might be modelled? Following Shepard (e....

Psychometric properties of the Looming Maladaptive Style Questionnaire (LMSQ-R) in young Spanish adults.

BACKGROUND The looming cognitive style (LCS) is a specific putative cognitive vulnerability to anxiety but not to depression. LCS is assessed by the Looming Maladaptive Style Questionnaire (LMSQ-R), which assesses a tendency to generate, maintain, and attend to internally generated scenarios of threats as rapidly increasing and headed in one's direction. This study investigated the structure, m...

Activity in ventromedial prefrontal cortex co-varies with revealed social preferences: evidence for person-invariant value.

Although altruistic and selfish behaviors seem fundamentally incommensurable humans regularly choose between them. One model of such choices suggests that individuals ascribe a common form of subjective value to their own outcomes and those of others. To test this 'person invariance' hypothesis, we asked individuals to choose between allocating varying amounts of money to themselves or to a par...
